About
Kat Belinfante is a NYC creative and yoga + fitness teacher. Originally from the suburbs of Atlanta, Kat ventured to Los Angeles to study theater at USC, and now lives in Brooklyn, New York with her cat Phoebe. Yoga has transformed her life and served as an anchor in the mostly fun, always chaotic energy of city life. It has helped heal anxiety and body image issues, as well as provided a sense of community. She feels incredibly grateful to be able to share the practice with others and hopes to help others find the gift of feeling safe, at home, and secure in their bodies. While she believes this to be a lifelong journey, she also believes through daily breath and movement, we each have the power to go from feeling small, trapped, or awkward in our physical bodies to feeling expansive, playful, and at ease with our physical instrument.
Kat has been teaching since 2019 at Hot Yoga Chelsea and added her own zoom classes (groups and privates) during the pandemic. She still teaches group classes at Hot Yoga Chelsea and now at Vera yoga since August 2023, as well maintaining a private student roster. She has taught in schools and for events (corporate holiday parties, bachelorettes, birthdays) and loves the challenge of adjusting her class, playlist, and energy for all different kinds of environments. She also has helped manage Hot Yoga Chelsea since its reopening in 2021. Kat is a RYT Yoga Alliance certified teacher in 200 hour vinyasa and 100 hour traditional hot (26 + 2, or Bikram), as well as a certified Hot HIIT instructor.
Her classes combine a built in Southern charm (sans accent), LA laid back vibe (sans vocal fry), and NYC directness (sans aggression). Kat’s classes place an emphasis on breath, as well as the mental and emotional components of yoga to help guide students through mindfulness in action. She takes the time to get to know students and what they are working on to help each individual get the most out of their practice while providing a challenging yet accessible class for all. She believes in the power of yoga beyond the physical and often speaks to its lessons on a deeper level in her classes while maintaining a focus on breath and alignment.
When she’s not teaching or practicing, Kat works as a writer/actor/comedian. This background helps to bring a creative approach to teaching and practiced presence in each class (“moment to moment” work turns out to not just be a useful Meisner technique), but don’t worry she leaves the jokes for the stage…unless it’s a Hot HIIT class.
